Legacy Tower

Project Location: Chicago, IL

Architect: Solomon Cordwell Buenz          Architects, Inc.

Rising 72 stories above Michigan Avenue, The Legacy provides 356 luxury condominium units and 460 parking spaces in Chicago's downtown Loop district.

The Legacy tower is oriented and sculpted for optimal views of Millennium Park and Lake Michigan from floors 16 through 72. Sustainable elements are incorporated throughout the tower, including sky parks - large, common areas of landscaped interior/ exterior gardens - into the 15th, 42nd and 60th floors.  The Legacy is the tallest building to be completed in North America in 2010, and the only one to make the top 20 tallest buildings in the world list in the 2010 Tall Building Review, issued by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.

Shiner Acoustics provided input from Schematic Design through Construction Administration, including recommendations for the sound isolation of residential demising units, the fitness center, lobby and pool.  Recommendations were provided for control of mechanical, electrical and plumbing noise and vibration.  Glazing was selected in order to provide noise reduction to residences from the adjacent elevated CTA train tracks.
